Air Fryer Edamame (Printable version)

Crispy, protein-packed edamame lightly seasoned and air-fried to perfection.

# What you need:

→ Edamame

01 - 14 oz frozen edamame in pods

→ Seasoning

02 - 1 tbsp olive oil
03 - 1 tsp coarse sea salt, plus more to taste
04 - 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
05 - 1/2 tsp garlic powder
06 - 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)

→ Garnish (optional)

07 - 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
08 - 1/2 tsp chili flakes or shichimi togarashi (optional)

# How to make it:

01 - Preheat air fryer to 400°F for 3 minutes.
02 - Rinse frozen edamame under warm water to thaw. Pat dry thoroughly with a kitchen towel to ensure crispiness.
03 - In a large bowl, toss edamame pods with olive oil, sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until evenly coated.
04 - Place seasoned edamame in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring even cooking.
05 - Air fry for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking. Pods should be lightly crisp and fragrant when done.
06 - Transfer to a serving bowl. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chili flakes if desired. Serve warm.

# Expert tips:

01 -
  • The air fryer transforms these humble beans into something impossibly addictive with barely any effort
  • Each pod becomes a perfect little package of salty, smoky satisfaction that disappears way too fast
02 -
  • Thoroughly drying the edamame before seasoning makes the difference between crispy and soggy, do not skip this step
  • Overcrowding the air fryer basket will steam the pods instead of crisp them, work in batches if needed
03 -
  • Let the seasoned edamame sit for 5 minutes before air frying so the oil and spices really cling to the pods
  • Work in batches rather than overcrowding the air fryer, because giving each pod space makes all the difference in texture
