Seasoned beef, melted cheddar and Monterey Jack with a crisp tostada and fresh toppings folded into warm tortillas.

# What you need:

→ Beef Filling

01 - 1 lb ground beef
02 - 1 small onion, finely chopped
03 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
04 - 1 tbsp olive oil
05 - 2 tbsp taco seasoning
06 - 2 tbsp tomato paste
07 - 1/4 cup water
08 - Salt and pepper, to taste

→ Cheese & Spread

09 - 1 2/3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
10 - 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
11 - 1/2 cup nacho cheese sauce

→ Crunch Layer & Wrap

12 - 4 large flour tortillas (12 inch)
13 - 4 tostada shells
14 - 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
15 - 2 tomatoes, diced
16 - 1/4 cup sour cream

# How to make it:

01 - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and sauté until translucent, about 2 minutes.
02 - Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-6 minutes.
03 - Stir in taco seasoning, tomato paste, and water. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat.
04 - Warm the flour tortillas in a microwave or dry skillet until pliable and easy to fold.
05 - Lay each tortilla flat. Spread 2 tablespoons of nacho cheese sauce in the center. Top with a quarter of the seasoned beef mixture, then sprinkle both cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses over the beef.
06 - Place a tostada shell on top of the cheese. Spread 1 tablespoon of sour cream over the shell, then layer with shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes.
07 - Carefully fold the edges of the tortilla up and over the center, pleating as you go, until the filling is completely enclosed.
08 - Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Place each crunch wrap seam-side down and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp.
09 - Slice each crunch wrap in half and serve immediately while hot.

# Expert tips:

01 -
  • The contrast of the crisp tostada shell buried inside a soft, griddle toasted tortilla is genuinely thrilling to bite into.
  • Everything cooks in one skillet and assembles in minutes, making it perfect for those nights when takeout is tempting but you want something better.
02 -
  • If the tortilla is not warm enough it will crack along the folds and the filling will spill out during griddling, so take the extra ten seconds to heat it properly.
  • Do not overfill the center or the pleats will not close, and the wrap will fall apart the moment you flip it.
03 -
  • Press down gently with your spatula while the wrap cooks seam side down to seal the folds and create an even crust.
  • Let the beef filling cool slightly before assembling so the cheeses do not melt prematurely and slide off the tostada.
